I have to say I am impressed. I saw "Control" for the first time at East Side Sports bar in Du Bois April 3rd. I was totally sober which made me pay very close attention to how well the band members fit together and also how "clean" and "polished" they sound. The band is "tight" "Control" is the right word to describe the connection to the music that they guys share. A little too much Bon Jovi for my taste although the guy who was on lead vocals most of the night has the same pitch and tones as John Bon Jovi which made me appreciate his talent. The modern rock covers were amazing... Jet and Maroon 5... RIGHT ON THE MONEY! Personally I could have done with out the AC/DC Mega medley... but everyone else got into it. The crowd was a nice group of old and young which is always cool... Its great to relate to others through music and the guys from "Control" bring that aspect to life with the mixture of music that would make a radio DJ lose his mind. Eminem? What's up with that? I honestly didn't think it could be done... but it was done so well that I got "lost" in the music and the moment... The only concern of mine is this... PAY ATTENTION MEMBERS OF CONTROL... Are you wasting your talent on being a cover band? I only say this because I feel that you have what it takes to go somewhere in the music business. (What) I want is to hear some originals!

Brian Ruane, music guru from Spott's Music Center, saw our live show at a local club and had this to say in an e-mail to his customer list. This was completely unsolicited, and we can't say how much this means to us coming from someone like him whom we have so much respect for. Thanks Brian, for the kind words!

"I would like to share a live music experience that I had Saturday night
at "Behind the moon". With all due respect to all of my friends and comrades
that  play live.. You know who you are, and I love you all, but I was blown
away by possibly the best live band I have ever heard. If you have haven't
heard  of the band CONTROL yet, you will! I was totally blown away.. I will
leave you with upcoming dates for CONTROL in the hopes that you will go
experience them live: ........."

Here is Jim Price's (JP's Corner) Article On The RockPage. "Central PA's Premier Music Site". Thanks Jim!

SATURDAY NIGHT 1/4 This was a night of discovery for me, as I saw a new band in a new room (new for me, that is…). My official story line, and I’m sticking to it, was that three wild Tyrone women abducted me and drove me up to the Wildwood Inn in Grampian to see Control. (I resisted at first, but gave up 10 seconds into the trip; I was enjoying it too much!) My first time at the Wildwood, nice room, and cool people running it! And Control – damned good band! Featuring singer Dan Staples, bassist Paul Cavalier and drummer Todd Swatsworth all of Rude Dawg fame, veteran guitarist Chris Kane of Tugger and Thunder Alley fame, and Gregg Cowan on keys; Control specializes in 80’s and early 90’s rock from Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Winger, Judas Priest, Queensryche, AC/DC and more, plus a few current favorites from Nickelback, Creed and Disturbed. Control in a way reminds me of Mount Union’s Scream in that these guys aren’t doing 80’s rock to be “retro,” they cut their teeth on this vein of rock and love doing it! These music scene vets are still very talented, Dan still has an excellent and rangeful voice, and Chris remains one of the area’s most underrated guitar players, his leads were rapidfire and precise on everything he did, from AC/DC to Ozzy to Whitesnake! Lots of highlights this night, including several tunes I haven’t heard anyone cover in a while like Deep Purple’s “Knocking At Your Back Door,” Rainbow’s “Since You’ve Been Gone,” Whitesnake’s “Love Ain’t No Stranger,” Queensryche’s “Jet City Woman” and Judas Priest’s “Turbo Lover;” plus Paul belting out the Brian Johnson howl on the AC/DC medley! I was very impressed with my first look at Control, this band rocks! Good crowd in the house despite snow-covered roads , it was also great to run into a lot of Clearfield area music scene folks I haven’t seen in a while, including former Soul Kitchen frontlady Mary Beth Geppert (now with her master’s degree and teaching music at several colleges and universities, excellent!), Jim Force (another Rude Dawg alumnus), Nick Socoski and more. Thanks to my “abductors;” I had a great time!

Jim also writes for PA Musician. This is what he wrote about us in that famous Rock Publication. Once again, Thanks Jim!

PA Musician (February, 2003 Edition\Northwest Report) -  I checked out Clearfield County's Control last month at Grampian's Wildwood Inn. Control features several Rude Dawg alumni: singer Dan Staples, bassist Paul Cavaliere and drummer Todd Swatsworth; plus veteran guitarist Chris Kane and keyboardist Gregg Cowan. With full-blown concert-caliber production, Control specializes in 80's and early 90's rock from Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Winger, Judas Priest, AC/DC and more, and includes current favorites from Nickelback, Creed and Disturbed. These music scene vets are very talented; Dan demonstrated an excellent, rangeful voice, and Chris' leads were rapidfire and precise on everything from AC/DC to Ozzy to Whitesnake! Highlights included tunes from Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Queensryche, Judas Priest; plus Paul belting out the Brian Johnson howl on the AC/DC medley! 80's rock isn't a "retro" novelty to Control; these guys cut their teeth on this vein of rock and play every note for keeps! A show worth checking out, catch Control at a club near you.
